For the next stage of your term project, you will assess the pros and cons of the subject, meaning establishing and evaluating the positive and negative connotations of the subject. Organize this post so that you briefly introduce the subject and identify the opposing viewpoints, proponent and opponent, for and against, or pro and con. The analysis should utilize more of an evaluative approach as you analyze the “for” and “against” perspectives [opposing viewpoints] of your thesis.

For example, the topic of increasing the minimum wage might identify and evaluate arguments for increasing the minimum wage and arguments for leaving the minimum wage as it is.  

To start, provide your thesis statement and, at a minimum, provide one paragraph for each side [for and against] to present, explain, and evaluate a primary justification for that side. Try to provide at least one court case that either affirms or refutes a perspective you are evaluating. Provide supporting elements so that content is more objective analysis than anecdotal. 

This is not your term paper. This is also not an argument for one side or the other.  Your target is to remain objective and unbiased in discussing the opposing viewpoints, whether you agree or disagree with the viewpoint. This assignment is intended to be informative. Stated differently, this assignment encourages you to interpret information related to the subject, while the term project encourages you to justify the reasoning behind your perspective of the subject. You may reuse information supporting the perspective that you constructed within this task, but your term paper should be more persuasive for one side or the other.

Unlike previous term project tasks, you will be expected to engage classmates in discussion and this task will be graded like a typical weekly forum; however, the grade will be 25% of the term project grade.
