Introduce the two artworks identifying their subject matter and the culture that created them, based on research. Describe each using the vocabulary of Formal Analysis. Draw comparisons between the two artworks in terms of formal qualities, style, and function. How does each artwork reflect political power of the culture that created it?

Topic #2 Gothic architecture. Choose two examples of Gothic architecture:

Duomo di Milano, Milan
Cologne Cathedral, Germany

Introduce and describe the two buildings, their construction materials and techniques, using research. Provide an overview of the origin and ideas of Gothic architecture. Draw comparisons between the two buildings in terms of style, construction, and function. How does each building reflect the political and cultural power of the Church during this period? If you have visited one or more of the buildings, please share your experience!
