As you read your course lesson and do additional research, consider what the ancient artwork you’ve chosen reveals to us about humans and art. For either the Lion Panel or Stonehenge, address the following questions:

  • Based on research, what is believed to be the function or purpose of the artwork?
  • What do you think its existence indicates about humans and art?

When doing research, start with these sources. In addition, you are welcome to bring personal experiences into your discussion. For general tips on approaching art and formatting assignments, review the Guide to Writing about Art and General Rules for Art History Assignments
