Topic #1 Printmaking: Research the artist Albrecht Dürer (see suggested research sources in the week’s announcement). Dürer is considered the finest printmaker to have ever lived. In your response, address the following:
- Choose a print that appeals to you created by Albrecht Dürer (make sure it’s a print — Dürer also created paintings and drawings). Explain how the print was made, giving details of the technique (details, not just: “a woodcut”);
- Briefly describe its subject and apply 1-2 Formal Analysis terms
- Does it have social, political, or religious meaning, or does it serve a practical function?
- In your discussion consider how printmaking revolutionized art based on your research.
