Essay 1 topic: Explain in your own words, which aspect of this Chemistry course (CHM 1010) most impressed you, and why it caused this impression on you.

 Part (A) is on Blackboard, and consists of 25 multiple-choice questions.

 Each question is worth 4 points for a total of 100 points

 Once you begin, you have 90 minutes to complete Part (A).

 You have to answer each question before you can proceed to the next question

 Blackboard Part (A) will close at 8:00 pm (You will not be able to start on this part after this time).

 The “Due Date” refers to the time after which you will be able to check your grade on Part (A).

Part (B) is five essays.

 Each essay is worth a maximum of 20 points, for a total of 100 points.

 You will choose which 5 topics listed below to answer, out of the following 7 topics.

(And you can also answer the other 2 topics for extra-credit!)

 You will submit your essays as ONE SINGLE DOCUMENT (MS Word or PDF) either as an attached document, or as text in an email.

 Your submission email must be sent to my PGCC email, boylewa@pgcc.edu

 The email SUBJECT must be “YOUR NAME(type your name) FINAL EXAM Spring 2021 Answers to Essay Questions.”

Each essay must have a minimum of 250 words, and be written in correct, complete sentences and paragraphs.

 Use your own words and be as clear as possible.

 Each essay will be graded based on the following rubrics:

 (A) Relevancy: Does your essay answer the question?  5 pts.

 (B) Authenticity: Does the essay reflect knowledge obtained from this course and your writing style? 10 pts.

 (C) Correct grammatical style, sentences, paragraphs? 5 pts.

 (D) Submitted on time? Penalty

  1. Essay 1 topic: Explain in your own words, which aspect of this Chemistry course (CHM 1010) most impressed you, and why it caused this impression on you.
  • Essay 2 topic: Explain in your own words, what aspect of Chemistry discussed in this course you believe is most important to modern society, and why is it important.
  • Essay 3 topic: Explain in your own words, which aspect of SCIENCE do you believe is most important to modern society, and why is it important.
  • Essay 4 topic: Explain in your own words, why do you think so many people in present-day America believe that SCIENCE IS NOT IMPORTANT, and that it is not worth the effort to learn. Is this negative opinion of SCIENCE socially harmful or not? Explain what you believe could be done to change these people’s negative opinions of science.
  • Essay 5 topic: Based on what you have learned in this course (and other college courses), what do you believe any ordinary citizen should understand about the scientific concept of energy? Why is it important that ordinary people understand this science concept?
  • Essay 6 topic: Explain in your own words, what is a chemical element, why is it important to modern society, and to you in particular.
  • Essay 7 topic: Explain in your own words, which aspect or topic of this Chemistry course (CHM 1010) did you feel was the most boring or least important, and why you felt this way.

For full credit, your email to me with your answers must be sent and dated before 10:00 pm tonight. If your email is sent after 10:00 pm but before 10:30 pm, there will be a 10% penalty.

If your email is sent after 10:30 pm but before 11:00 pm, there will be a 20% penalty.

If your email is sent after 11:00 pm, there will be a 100% penalty.
