Draft Introduction – 6 Marks

• Have you provided a clear and well-organized Introduction to your essay?

• Does your Introduction suggest to your reader that you’re informed about your topic? Does your Introduction indicate to your reader that you’re engaging about a specific and focused community of personal significance? Do you a provide a concise argument and structuring rationale (reason for, overview of) of your paper?

• Does your Introduction make clear how you’re using Hall’s theory of Presences, as well as at least two other ideas, arguments or theories from the material that we’ve discussed in this class?

Topic Sentences and Supporting Notes – 2 Marks

• Have you provided at least three Topic Sentences that logically follow from the Introduction that you have provided? Have you provided Supporting Notes that suggest to your reader that you have devised an Essay that accounts for content, flow and clarity?

• Do these Topic Sentences and Supporting Notes make clear how you’re using Hall’s theory of Presences, as well as at least two other ideas, arguments or theories from the material that we’ve discussed in this class?

Structure and Writing – 2 Marks

• Are your ideas and arguments presented in an effective and understandable fashion? Are your ideas and arguments deliberately organized and without logical error? Have you written these Components well – meaning: clearly, concisely and with minimal grammar and spelling issues (bearing in mind that, while this is a Draft, it is still an assignment)?
